Rob has 32 years’ experience of learning development, education and leadership gained in a variety of settings from private sector, third sector and government.

Starting his career with Barnardo’s working directly with young people with learning disabilities in community based projects Rob moved into government learning and development management with the Training and Enterprise Council and then the Learning and Skills Council leading teams in work based learning and apprenticeships across a variety of sectors.

Rob then led a community skills regeneration programme for the Regional Development Agency under DCLG before moving to take up a position as Standards and Qualifications lead at the Children’s Workforce Development Council and from there into the Department for Education as policy for Early Years Education before joining Skills for Care in January 2014.

As Programme Head for Standards, Learning, Qualifications and Apprenticeships Rob leads a national team working on a wide variety of projects for the Department of Health and Social Care. From April 2019 Rob will be the interim Director of Sector Development at Skills for Care.
