The National Skills Academy for Health's Sandwell and West Birmingham Excellence Centre is hosted by Sandwell and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group. As the regional hub, we are developing strong collaborations between training providers and healthcare employers from the public, independent and voluntary sectors to design and deliver new learning resources for healthcare support staff, share training expertise and make best use of skills development facilities.

- Pharmacy apprenticeships toolkit launched
Health Education England and the National Skills Academy for Health have launched a new toolkit that answers the all the key questions about pharmacy apprenticeships. There is also information on how you can access additional apprenticeship funding if your organisation is based in the West Midlands. Click here to download the toolkit (PDF).
West Heath Surgery works closely with the local GP provider organisation South Doc Services to deliver quality services across the area. It has found an innovative response to evolving patient needs by training an HCA to Band 4 in many of the functions that were formally carried out only by doctors and nurses. This has lead to a redesign of the workforce across many of the services in both organisations.
- Sandwell and West Birmingham Excellence Centre launches
The Sandwell and West Birmingham Excellence Centre was formally launched at the Sandwell and West Birmingham CCG Annual General Meeting on 03 September 2015 at the West Bromwich Albion Football Ground.
