The National Skills Academy for Health's North Bristol Excellence Centre is hosted by North Bristol NHS Trust at Southmead Hospital. As the regional hub, we are developing strong collaborations between training providers and healthcare employers from the public, independent and voluntary sectors to design and deliver new learning resources for healthcare support staff, share training expertise and make best use of skills development facilities.

North Bristol Excellence Centre online forum
One of the benefits of joining our Employer Partner programme is exclusive access to the Academy's online Knowledge Exchange. The website contains news, articles, research and curated resources specific to learning and development and also hosts a private forum for North Bristol Excellence Centre to use for project work, discussions etc. To access the forum, log on to the Knowledge Exchange website and select Forum from the main menu.
Regional news and case studies
After hearing positive feedback about other practices’ experience with apprentices, Kate Francis, Practice Manager, and Miffy Saunders, HR Manager, at Air Balloon Surgery in Bristol, took the decisive step to take on their first-ever apprentice, Chelsea Pearce – with results that ushered in great success for both the practice and 18-year-old Chelsea.
In collaboration with Weston College and Learndirect, North Somerset Community Partnership has been successfully employing apprentices in a variety of roles across the Trust for the last several years, with its third cohort due to start later this year. Stacey Croll, 27, and Chris Brownett, 23, are two of the Trust’s success stories who showcase the progression from apprentice to a promising career in the NHS. Both started out as Business Administration apprentices, in Occupational Therapy and People Team roles respectively.

Regional Advisory Group
The North Bristol Regional Advisory Group (RAG) will be made up of key personnel from the range of employers that are part of the Employer Partner network. The purpose of the Regional Advisory Group is to support and advise the implementation and ongoing development of the Excellence Centre.
The members of the group will be able to inform and advise on local issues that may be pertinent to identifying the training needs in the local area. They will also help build the network and liaise with the National Advisory Group. The inaugural Regional Advisory Group meeting was held on 03 September 2015.
