Ambition London – FREE Information, Advice and Guidance Toolkit

The National Skills Academy for Health (NSAH) and Skills for Care are proud to be working in partnership with Learning and Work Institute on the Ambition London Project.  Funded by the JP Morgan Chase Foundation, this high-profile project aims to support individuals who are unemployed or in long-term low paid roles, to build the skills and confidence to progress within the health and care sector in East London, making use of Advanced Learner Loans where appropriate.

As part of this project, the NSAH have developed a toolkit that can be used by JCP, training providers, employers and mentors to deliver interventions and Careers Information Advice and Guidance (CIAG) support for individuals who are unemployed or are in long-term low paid roles and unable to progress, to enter the health service. The toolkit has been developed for delivery within East London.

The toolkit consists of workshops and facilitator notes and includes sessions that can be delivered to managers and mentors to upskill and develop the skills required to support individuals to progress. Please see the invitation below to the East London launch event of the Toolkit.

Skills for Care have developed an interactive tool ‘Social Care - a rewarding career for you’. This can be used by employment brokers, careers advisors and those thinking about careers in care. It highlights the things that attract people to work in care and it gives details about the range of roles and the many progression opportunities available in care. Case studies of current workers show how they’ve progressed their careers and what advice they’d give to others.  It includes information about the values and skills needed and the qualifications available, including how they can be funded.

Alongside the tool is a guide about how to use it and signposting to other useful resources. An outline session of how it could be used by learners will also be provided

Both toolkits will look at the use of Advanced Learner Loans to raise awareness of the different options for funding learning, including a new co-investment model.

Invitation to our Launch Event

We will be running a launch event for employers and training providers in East London, on Tuesday 4th April at Professional Development Centre, Ground Floor, 229 Bethnal Green Road, E2 6AB and would be delighted if you, and any of your colleagues, could attend.

The presentations on the day have been tailored for each audience - Training Providers are asked to attend from 10am – 12pm and employers from 1pm to 3pm. Please state which time session you will be attending when booking your place.

Attendance at the event is free, with lunch and refreshments provided. In the session, both tools will be presented and explained, and delegates will have opportunities to sample the toolkits, discuss their use and take away the NSAH FREE resource pack.

While attendance at the launch is free, we request that delegates wishing to use the resources to deliver interventions to their leaners and employees provide the Learning and Work Institute with a small amount of intelligence through a simple process, enabling us to track the impact of the toolkit and make any refinements necessary.  Further information will be made available on the day.
