Kent, Surrey and Sussex Excellence Centre

The National Skills Academy for Health's Kent, Surrey and Sussex Excellence Centre is hosted by Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As the regional hub, we are developing strong collaborations between training providers and healthcare employers from the public, independent and voluntary sectors to design and deliver new learning resources for healthcare support staff, share training expertise and make best use of skills development facilities.

Regional Advisory Group meetings

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Regional Advisory Group (RAG) is made up of key personnel from the employers that are part of the Employer Partner network. The Regional Advisory Group supports and advises on the implementation and ongoing development of the Excellence Centre. The members of the group are able to inform and advise on local issues that may be pertinent to identifying the training needs in the local area. They also help build the network and liaise with the National Advisory Group.

Regional news and case studies

thanet apprenticeshipsNHS Thanet Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is working with local membership GP practices to promote apprenticeships schemes within the healthcare sector.

The schemes give young people a mixture of practical training and experience which will help them develop their future careers.

The three apprentices featured in the case studies talk about their roles, how they have benefitted from taking an apprenticeship and why they would recommend an apprenticeship to other young people.

We are pleased to announce that a further six healthcare organisations and training providers, including three from the Kent, Surrey and Sussex area, have successfully achieved the Skills for Health Quality Mark.

All 22 NHS Trusts in Kent, Surrey and Sussex are aiming to achieve the Skills for Health Quality Mark, thanks to funding and support from Health Education England (HEE).

Health Education England working across Kent Surrey and Sussex wanted to set a standard for the Care Certificate across all its Trusts, ensuring they were training their workforce to the same high standards, and recognised that the Skills for Health Quality Mark could provide proof of quality of face-to-face training.
