Implementing the Care Certificate
We have developed a range of support services and practical resources to help you successfully implement the Care Certificate in your organisation.
Do you have the right knowledge and skills in your organisation to carry out Care Certificate assessments? Our interactive Care Certificate assessor workshops provide assessors with the knowledge, confidence and practical tools to successfully undertake their role and make clear and consistent assessment decisions.
The Care Certificate learner assessment toolkit provides a cost-effective solution to develop the skills of Care Certificate assessors to enable them to effectively deliver the learning required for the Care Certificate and to assess effectively against the learning outcomes.
Are you undertaking Care Certificate assessments? Would you like the opportunity to standardise your assessment decisions with colleagues across the sector? During our interactive Care Certificate assessment standardisation webinars, attendees will have the opportunity to review, assess and discuss decisions made about a selection of pre-released assessment examples. These sessions help to ensure that organisations and individuals are making reliable, valid and consistent assessment decisions.
We provide a growing and sector-leading range of e-learning courses that are aligned to the Core Skills Training Framework. The courses will keep your staff compliant with statutory and mandatory training requirements and also cover the education aspect of the Care Certificate. Our e-learning programmes can be accessed anywhere, anytime, and are self-paced so your staff can undertake learning at a time and place that is convenient for them. Using our managed learning environment, you can track the training your workforce is accessing and monitor their progress and completion rates, giving you with real-time information to aid workforce planning.
We work hard to improve the quality of training provision available to healthcare support workers and to ensure managers know how and where they can access great training for their staff. Our network of Excellence Centres and approved delivery partners put employers in charge of local learning, helping them to share scarce resources and to develop and deliver cost-effective training to meet the requirements of the Care Certificate.
Administered by the National Skills Academy for Health, the Skills for Health Quality Mark defines and endorses the superior delivery of learning and training that healthcare employers need for a highly motivated and effective workforce.
Following the launch of the Care Certificate, evaluation of Care Certificate provision is a mandatory element of Quality Mark assessments for all healthcare providers. For training providers, the Quality Mark process includes assessment of the knowledge, understanding and support training providers are giving to learners to equip them for work in the healthcare sector and how they are helping learners to achieve the Care Certificate within their first 12 weeks of employment.
Our Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA) makes it easy for you to take on an apprentice. We employ the apprentice on your behalf, taking on all of the HR and performance management responsibilities, so you can benefit from productive new talent in your team without risk or additional administration.
The ATA will also coordinate the apprentice’s training through an approved training provider and ensure that the training delivered for healthcare related apprenticeships contributes to the achievement of the Care Certificate. Wherever possible the ATA works with, and recommends, training providers who hold the Quality Mark. This means that the quality of the Care Certificate training provision and the support that the provider gives to learners has been quality-assured.
The Academy’s online Knowledge Exchange contains comprehensive information about the Care Certificate. It includes the latest Care Certificate news, articles on key topics and a single point of access to free resources from the Care Certificate partners.
Access to the Knowledge Exchange is one of the benefits of becoming a National Skills Academy for Health Employer Partner. If you provide health or care services within England as part of the NHS or in the independent or voluntary sectors – whether you have one employee or several thousand - you can register as an Employer Partner for free.
Our leadership and management development programmes support managers in extending their awareness and understanding of ethics and values in the workplace, providing them with the ability to effectively manage performance and competence.
